April 22, 2005 Today’s Word of Strength 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates. When this scripture is read its intent was to cause believers to consider whether there lives are living up to the standards set by God. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and you find that you are getting more enjoyment out of the things of this world rather than from your relationship with Jesus, then you might want to do a more thorough examination. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate your understanding so you can see where you are falling short of doing things which please God the Father. I pulled this scripture from the King James, but let’s take a look at “The Message” version. 2 Corinthians 13:5 (The Message) 5Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it. Grow in grace, and let the peace of God rule your heart. Amen. Michael W. Roy Wise Master Builder |
